We’ve just released an app to give young people a hand with all the tricky stuff when they’re thinking about leaving care. It’s called Resolve and it’s full of plenty of great info on things like relationships, health, education, money, getting a job and finding a place to live. You can use Resolve to get some quick info when you need it or set up some goals to get you ready to tackle some of the bigger stuff.
Resolve has been developed by FACS, CREATE Foundation, Klyp and the Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability, in collaboration with young people. The end product is an easy to use, interactive app with content that can be personalised to an individual’s needs and circumstances.
Resolve works alongside other services already provided by FACS, such as leaving care planning, after care support and the Careleaver’s Line, providing another avenue to access useful information. The app provides information on important and relevant topics, such as building positive relationships, sexual health, alcohol and drugs, domestic violence, mental health, and negotiating family relationships. Resolve also provides the ability for care leavers to establish goal steps for things that take a bit of time to do like getting a driver’s licence. In goal steps, the information is broken down into step-by-step instructions, meaning you can tick off each step as you go.
